Language-driven or Content-driven - on CBI Based Teaching Model of Public English Speech

Content-based instruction model (CBI) handles the relationship between language and content in teaching and learning properly. Based on the CBI concept, the current study constructed a progressive public English speaking teaching model based on four stages: English dubbing, simulated speech, speech based on draft writing and impromptu speech. Determining the series of speech theme combined with teaching materials, then digging the combination of the teaching materials with Chinese traditional culture, the study carried out four-stage training in the experimental group but only common training based on the speech course curriculum in the control group, and obtained the pre-test and post-test results of the topic-oriented speech of both groups separately. By using quantitative and qualitative analysis of independent samples t-test and feedback interviews, it was concluded that this model could effectively improve students’ English speaking ability. And students’ self-perception in three dimensions of English speech interest, speaking confidence and conception ability had been significantly improved.

Modification of Graphene and Friction and Wear Property of its Epoxy Resin Matrix Composites

The graphene was modified by silane coupling agent KH560, the epoxy resin was reinforced by the modified graphene (KH-graphene) to produce KH-graphene/epoxy resin composites, and the effect of KH-graphene content and load on the friction and wear property of the composites was studied. The results showed that the KH560 was successfully grafted to the surface of graphene; The KH-graphene decreased the mass loss and friction coefficient of the epoxy resin, and with increasing the KHgraphene content, the mass loss and friction coefficient of KH-graphene/epoxy resin composites both showed a decreasing trend, and when the load was 150N, KH-graphene content was 0.5%, the mass loss and friction coefficient of composites were reduced by 44.9% and 17.4%; With increasing the load, the mass loss and friction coefficient of KH-graphene/epoxy resin composites also showed a decreasing trend; The wear form was mainly fatigue wear under the low load, and KH-graphene could inhibit the generation and expansion of micro-cracks; After the load increased, the wear form was mainly abrasive wear; After the graphene added, the wear scar of the worn surface of composites was relatively reduced.

Based on the self-built corpus, Disgrace is compared with Coetzee’s other 11 novels with AntConc to generate keyword list and the data reveals that "dogs", as an important keyword, makes a great contribution to theme construction of Disgrace and has a relationship of co-occurrence and isomorphism with man. Dogs are the objects of Lurie’ gaze, and with anti-gaze, he achieves empathy between man and dogs, clarifies the identity of dogs as companion species of human beings, showing the isomorphism between them. Lurie’s becoming dog-man, which is, in essence, a kind of deterritorialization, breaking through the species boundary between humans and animals and demonstrates the animal rights.

Since the beginning of the 21st century,the global climate change,especially the global warming,is becoming more and more serious.The global warming leads to the rise of sea level,making many small island countries at a low altitude in danger of vanishment.Firstly,we build an EDP formation model to predict which countries and how many people will have the risk of becoming EDP.We use principal component analysis to reveal that EDP is mainly caused by the rise of sea level.We choose a time series prediction algorithm,fbprophet to predict the trend of temperature change.Based on the rise of sea level,the size of EDP affected by natural disasters is roughly estimated.

Analysis of the Dynamic Change of Vegetation Cover in the Mechanical Forest Field of Sehan Dam Based on RS

In order to study the dynamic changes of vegetation cover in saihanba mechanical forest farm in the past 30 years, this paper used the Landsat remote sensing images of the area in 1989, 2001 and 2016 provided by the geospatial data cloud platform, and extracted the vegetation coverage information of saihanba mechanical forest farm with normalized vegetation index and pixel dichotomy, and analyzed the dynamic changes of vegetation cover in the three periods. Results show that fr om 1989 to 2001, mechanical sihanba forest vegetation cover age as a whole is in a state of slow wave growth, the western region is relatively stable, relatively obvious growth in central China, the eastern region has no obvious change. From 2001 to 2016, the FVC of this region has been significantly increased, especially in the western region where the FVC has been transformed from very low to very high FVC.The comprehensive results show that the vegetation cover of saihanba mechanical forest farm has undergone earth-shaking changes through artificial afforestation, creating a green miracle from vast wasteland to green water and green mountains, and bringing great ecological and social benefits to human beings.

On the Effect of Background Music Preference on Emotions During Walking

Objective: To study the influence of background music preference on emotion during walking. Method: The experiment is a single factor research design, and the independent variable is the type of background music (preferred, disliked, no background music). The subjects performed three 20-minute walking tasks with no background music, favorite background music, and disliked background music during the experiment. After the experiment, the positive and negative affect scales (PANAS) were filled to compare the difference between positive and negative emotion in the three tasks through statistical analysis. Result: It was found that people’s preference for background music affected the foreground work emotions. Subjects’ positive emotions increased under the background music they liked, and their negative emotions aggravated under the background music they disliked.

Research on the Relationship between Widowhood, Social Participation and Life Satisfaction of Rural Elderly

Objective: This study aims to explore the relationship between widowhood and social participation on life satisfaction of the elderly in rural China. Methods: We used questionnaires and scales to investigate 322 rural elderly people in Shaanxi Province. Results: We found that widowhood was negatively correlated with social participation (P = 0.033). Widowhood was negatively correlated with life satisfaction (P = 0.007). Social activities play a mediating role between widowhood and life satisfaction. Conclusion: Widowhood directly affects the life satisfaction of the elderly, and widowhood affects the life satisfaction of the elderly through social activities. More participation in social activities is an effective way to improve the life satisfaction of the elderly.

This paper starts with the introduction of concepts of social media and its basic forms. Then it lists out social media’s different features and current situation of administrative documents. Then, to help readers to have better understanding of administrative documents, this paper introduces three functions of administrative documents. After taking a look at social media and administrative documents, the paper shifts its focus to Wechat and Facebook. First, it introduces Wechat’s development and status in the social media age, and then gives the understanding of administrative documents through Facebook and Wechat channels, and at last introduces three functions of administrative documents involving new principles of Separation Principle, Reprinting Principle and Moral Bottom Line Principle. Based on some researches about advertorial traditional writing principles, the paper lists following scholars’ views as comparison of the new principles. As in the age of new media, most active users of mobile devices and services are making good use of reprinting principle, for there are a lot of new articles created every day, and some of which may match the targets of your own administrative documents. The last principle emphasizes on moral issues, which calls for practitioners’ self-discipline to respect intellectual property and etiquette.

A Cultural Man in the Market Jin’s Art

Li Jin, a contemporary Chinese ink and wash artist, participated in the Eighth Five-Year Movement of Thought in China. Li Jin’s art can be divided into three stages. The first stage is during the Eighth Five-Year Movement, Chinese artists turned to Western modern art and post-modern art. The process of learning, and Li Jin’s artistic style presents expressionism, such as Tibetan group paintings. And the second stage is that after 1989, Chinese art has undergone a new turning point. The lofty and philosophical avant-garde art of the 1980s has declined, because intellectuals throughout China clearly understand that the right to speak is always in the hands of the power, and power is Justice and discourse, the brush for writing history is not for the general public, so after 1989, there was a gap in culture and a decline in spirit. He spoke with a hippie smile and a cynical attitude, so cynical realism, political pop art, female art, with the emergence of gaudy art, the artist’s perspective has changed from a macro perspective to a daily trivial matter, generalized and secularized. At this stage, Li Jin’s art expresses the things of family life, presenting private space. The third stage is after 2000. Due to the changes of the times, market capitalism has allowed Chinese contemporary art to gain some official status. In this modern China where consumerism and pragmatism are popular, Li Jin directly intervenes in his self-image to express his feelings and memories of this social fragment. Even though there are many personal sensibility elements, the artist is using his own eyes and beating heart to feel that it is a kind of reality, not the real nihility in the socalled history textbook. These are the three stages of Li Jin’s art. The main topic of this thesis is Li Jin’s daily expressions based on the theme of gourmet beauties from the 1990s to the present, writing market culture from the first perspective of ordinary people. The thesis is divided into three parts: the first part is to discuss Li Jin’s expression of beautiful food. The second part discusses Li Jin’s perfect integration of traditional ink painting and contemporary society. The third part is to discuss the turning and criticism of Li Jin’s art in the global context.

The Applicability of Communication Accommodation Theory and Empathy Strategy in Speeches ——A Case Study from Remarks by Ambassador Cui Tiankai in 2018

This paper is mainly based on the topic of whether the theory of Communication Accommodation (CAT) is applicable in speeches and how the Empathy strategy is applied in speeches. A case study from a speech by Ambassador Cui Tiankai at the Welcome Dinner Hosted by Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin is analyzed as a sample of intercultural communication practice. The research analyzes and explores the origin of the CAT and its related theories as well as elaborates on similarity-attraction theory, social exchange theory, causal attribution, social identity theory and some major strategies such as convergence, divergence and over-convergence for the purpose of the applicability of CAT in speeches. What is more, empathy as an important strategy is illustrated in detail. After a careful analysis, it has been proved that it is effective and practical for the application of CAT in speeches. Furthermore, the application of Empathy strategy in speeches will create a rewarding outcome.
