Verbal Humor in Modern Family from the Perspective of Cooperative Principle
Abstract
Humor is everywhere in our daily life. From the perspective of Cooperative Principle, this research selects dialogues from the sitcom Modern Family as the corpus. Through the study of the dialogues violating the four maxims under the Cooperative Principle, this research analyzes how the sitcom achieves the comedy effect by violating the Cooperative Principle with the hope of providing certain reference for the creation of humor in the sitcom.References
