On the Characteristics of Chinese Calligraphy Terms and Their Translation

Abstract

Chinese calligraphy is an artistic treasure of the Chinese nation, and enjoys more and more fans in the international community as Chinese culture “goes globalâ€. Therefore, it is especially important to study Chinese calligraphy translation. This paper intends to explore the characteristics of Chinese calligraphy terms, translation principles and strategies, emphasizing that translators should fully consider the cultural connotation of calligraphy terms and the acceptability of target audiences, so as to adopt flexible and effective translation strategies to help Chinese calligraphy art successfully “go globalâ€.
