Regulating Intestinal Microbes to Decrease the Incidence of Heart Disease

    by Xingmei Jin

    Preventive Medicine Research, Vol.12, No.1, 2023; 62 Views, 20 PDF Downloads

This paper studies the correlation between intestinal microbes and heart disease. In the paper, the process of human body producing Trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO) under the role of intestinal microbes has been analyzed, and the ways to reduce the level of TMAO which can increase the incidence of heart disease has been designed. The expected result is that the level of TMAO in plasma is successfully reduced by regulating intestinal microbes. This paper can provide useful information for further studies in self-healing therapy by regulating intestinal microbes.

by Guodong Wang, Jing Zhang, Wenjie Gao

    Preventive Medicine Research, Vol.12, No.1, 2023; 94 Views, 23 PDF Downloads

Objective To study the therapeutic effect of Xiaoyao Pill combined with intense pulsed light on stable chloasma. Methods 80 patients with stable chloasma in Shaanxi People's Hospital from September 2018 to September 2019 were enrolled in this prospective randomized controlled study. Randomly divided into control group and observation group, 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with APT570; The observation group was treated with APT570 combined with oral Xiaoyao Pill Concentrated Pill. Follow-up for 8 months, the therapeutic effects of the two groups were compared. Chi-square test was performed on the data. Results The effective rate of the observation group was 95%, which was higher than that of the control group by 75% (P < 0.05). Conclusion During the treatment of chloasma, APT570 combined with Xiaoyao Pill, a traditional Chinese medicine, can significantly improve the effective rate, reduce the recurrence rate and significantly improve the facial skin quality, which has important clinical experience value.

Natural Killer Cells (NK cells) Based Immunotherapy in Treatment of Cancer: Current Progression and Remained Challenges

    by Shuoming Shang

    Preventive Medicine Research, Vol.12, No.1, 2023; 87 Views, 19 PDF Downloads

Natural Killer Cells (NK cells) based immunotherapy involving a variety of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) is becoming increasingly common and has achieved considerable success. However, at the same time, it also faces some huge burning problems. Cancer immunotherapy with NK cells enables the precise elimination of cancer cells. Besides, NK cells can be massively expanded in vitro and do not lead to graft-versus-host-disease (GVHD). Furthermore, ICIs are capable to augment the tumoricidal capacity of NK cells. These characteristics make NK cells dominated immunotherapy a key player in cancer treatment.

PECAM-1 is a Prognostic-Related Biomarker and Correlated with Immune Infiltrates in Breast Cancer

by Qingfang Yue, Yuan Zhang, Fei Cao, Fei Wang

    Preventive Medicine Research, Vol.12, No.1, 2023; 50 Views, 22 PDF Downloads

This study aims to analyze the expression and clinical significance of Platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule 1 (PECAM-1) in breast cancer and the correlation between PECAM-1 and immune infiltrations. We performed a bioinformatic analysis of the prognostic value and immune infiltration correlation of PECAM-1 in breast cancer .  The results showed that there were significant differences in PECAM-1 expression levels between breast invasive carcinoma tissues and adjacent normal tissues. The high expression of PECAM-1 was significantly related to favorable overall survival, progression-free survival and distant metastasis free survival in patients with breast cancer. There were significantly positive correlations with the levels of infiltrated B cell, CD4+T cells, CD8+ T cells, neutrophils, macrophages, and dendritic cells in breast cancer. In summary, the expression of PECAM-1 can serves as a prognostic biomarker in breast invasive carcinoma and is correlated with immune infiltrates.

Efficacy of Acupuncture in Treatment of Parkinson's Disease with Orthostatic Hypotension: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial

by Yue Liu, Yun Dang, Peng Tang, Jiaxin Zhao, Peipei Li, Hong Wang, Dongliang Wang

    Preventive Medicine Research, Vol.12, No.1, 2023; 70 Views, 25 PDF Downloads

Objective : To evaluate the therapeutic effect and safety of acupuncture on Parkinson's disease (PD) with orthostatic hypotension (OH) patients. Method s : A randomized controlled clinical trial was used to observe the efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment of 51 PD with OH patients. The observation time was 1 week. Results : After 1 week of acupuncture treatment, the blood pressure and blood flow velocity of left middle cerebral artery of the treatment group increased compared with the control group, and the difference was statistically significant ( P <0.05); the visual vertigo analog scale (VVAS) of the treatment group decreased compared with the control group, and the difference was also statistically significant ( P <0.05). After 1 week of acupuncture treatment, the heart rate of the treatment group increased compared with the control group, and the modified Rankin score (mRS) of the treatment group decreased compared with the control group, but there was no statistical difference ( P >0.05). There were no serious adverse events and adverse reactions during the observation period .   Conclusion : Acupuncture is effective and safe in the treatment of PD with OH.

Objective: in order to prevent medical risks and ensure patient safety , building the hospital patient safety culture has become an important issue that hospitals concern. Method: this paper adopts hospital patient safety questionnaire  (SAQ) developed by Dr. Sexton, including 30 questions in six dimensions, and adds two measurement dimensions of “ work and life coordination ”  and “resilience”  in combination with hospital situations in Macao. The questionnaire totally has 46 questions in eight dimensions. The hospital safety culture is assessed based on IPGA matrix analysis model. Conclusion: it helps the hospital adopt interventional measures in time, concern medical care personnel and improve patient safety culture.
