Through theoretical analysis and empirical research, it is found that core self-evaluation has a significant moderating and buffering effect on college students’ perceived social support and career adaptability. Specifically, core self-evaluation can reduce the emotional pressure of career adaptability while also affecting the individual’s social support cognitive regulation, thereby promoting their career adaptability. On this basis, this study proposes a series of practical application suggestions, mainly including the construction of a diversified social support network, the development of core self-evaluation and improvement courses, and the design of career adaptability situational simulation experience. By analysing the spatial, economic and physical metaphors in the text, the study points out that: firstly, “room”, as the core spatial metaphor, not only symbolizes the physical privacy required for women’s creativity, but also maps the reconstruction of spiritual freedom and power relations, which deconstructs the binary of “family-public” under patriarchy. -It also maps the reconstruction of spiritual freedom and power relations, deconstructing the dichotomy of “family” and “public” under patriarchy. Secondly, the economic metaphor of “Five Hundred Pounds” reveals the decisive role of material basis for spiritual independence, and criticises the suppression of women’s creativity due to the unfair distribution of social resources. Finally, the physical metaphor of “Shakespeare’s sister”, through the tragedy of the fictional character Judith, visualises the historical situation of stifled female creativity as the destruction of the body and the banishment from the public sphere. The study shows that Woolf constructs a cognitive framework through multi-dimensional metaphors, not only presenting the existential dilemma of women in the 19th century, but also challenging the patriarchal discourse system with linguistic strategies and fighting for the right to speak for women’s creativity. Combined with the theories of Lecov and Beauvoir, this paper deepens the interpretive power of metaphor in gender studies and provides a new perspective for contemporary feminist literary criticism.</p> Liyuan Yang Copyright (c) 2025 2025-04-30 2025-04-30 14 1 A Meta - Analysis of the Relationship between Academic Anxiety and Academic Performance: Based on Data from Chinese Secondary School Students https://ojs.piscomed.com/index.php/LE/article/view/4459 <p>This meta - analysis synthesizes 67 empirical studies (70 independent samples, N=79,438) from 2001 to 2022 to investigate the relationship between academic anxiety and academic performance among Chinese secondary school students. A systematic search across 14 databases was conducted following PRISMA guidelines. Results show a moderate negative correlation (r=−0.41, p<0.001) with significant heterogeneity. Moderator analyses indicate that self - reported academic achievement has a stronger negative association with anxiety than objective measures. Subgroup analyses find no significant effects of gender, grade level, or measurement tools. While enrollment scales continue to grow, graduates confront persistent “unemployment upon graduation,” driven by labor market supply-demand imbalances, theory-practice disconnects, and curricular stagnation. The Fourth Industrial Revolution exacerbates these issues, with talent shortages in fields like artificial intelligence underscoring the misalignment between higher education and market demands. Through literature analysis and empirical evidence, this research demonstrates that China’s higher education must align with labor market needs by restructuring academic programs (e.g., introducing AI-related disciplines), prioritizing vocational training, and enhancing practical skill development. The study further emphasizes the urgency for institutions to increase responsiveness to labor market dynamics, reform pedagogical models, and strike a balance between theoretical and applied learning. Ultimately, employability emerges not only as a critical metric for evaluating educational efficacy but also as a central catalyst for systemic adaptation to societal transformations.</p> Weiying Feng Copyright (c) 2025 2025-04-30 2025-04-30 14 1 A Study on the Improvement Strategies for Vocational English Learning Based on the Psychological Characteristics of Underachievers https://ojs.piscomed.com/index.php/LE/article/view/4467 <p>The issue of underachieving students in vocational university English classes has long been a significant challenge for educators.
