Call for Papers for the Special Issue: Journal of Networking and Telecommunications

2019-06-15

The Introduction of the Special Issue

As a dominant technology in our daily life, IoT promises a smart and pervasive computing landscape in which a huge variety of devices and sensors are linked together. In the majority of applications, IoT-based devices/sensors need to be in continuous interaction with their environments, with each other, or with the IoT cloud. This exponentially increases the communication volume which highly drains the energy of battery and shortens the device-lifetime. Even though great efforts have been exerted in this domain, scalable and novel solutions are still required as the technology is rapidly evolved.

However, this special issue focuses on the current research progress, innovative trends, and energy-efficient-mechanisms (software-based solutions) in different levels (i.e., application level, networking level, data-link level, etc.) as well as deployment architectures/strategies, that may help in enhancing the interaction performance and extend the battery-lifetime of the connected devices.

The Research Scope of the Special Issue

· Emerging trends and innovations for energy-efficiency in IoT/smart WSNs

· Energy-aware routing/clustering/deployment algorithms

· Energy-aware applications for smart city/automation

· ML-based and intelligent techniques for energy-efficient MAC solutions

· Sensor-cloud and sensor virtualization
